For me right now the biggest challenge I am having is finding time to meet with the campus organization I have choosen, cause I'm working and then school work. Then, I am also having the challenge of knowing how we're supposed to link our topics with the organization.
Hi Kale,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that you are confused at the moment regarding your research question and topic. The "interracial marriage" topic that you were working with was from the initial OPAC exercise which we had done in class. I had initially expected people to have their research topics/questions set up for their semester research projects by then, but knowing the challenges that some people had in contacting their organizations and so forth, I gave people sample topics so that they could do the class exercises. This is NOT going to be the same topic that you will be working on for your semester research project with your campus organization (unless they want to deal with interracial marriage on one level or another).
You indicated that you are working with a campus organization called Alpha Chi, is that correct? What are some of the multicultural issues/challenges that they face? You can talk to some of the other folks in IM 204 who are working with fraternities and sororities to get an idea of what they are doing, then talk with your organization. They might want you to work on a similar project. Your research question will be based on their needs/issues.
Does this make sense? Please let me know if you are still confused. In the meantime, you can do research on your fraternity and learn about their history and what they have become famous for.
Keep me posted...
